Healing methods.

Brainspotting.

Freedom from stuck emotions, images, and trauma effects.

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neuro-physiological sources of emotional and physical pain, and unhealthy coping mechanisms associated with PTSD, or other emotional issues. It allows the individual to channel their own internal wisdom/knowledge they possess to transform debilitating traumatic memories and the negative beliefs they feel in relation to the incident(s) - whether remembered or not.

The deepest areas of your brain have the ability to heal the effects from painful experiences of the past.

Somatic Therapy.

Our bodies have a natural, biological response to the world that we live in. It gets programed to respond in certain ways, based on our past experience, the experiences of our parents and ancestors, and the environments in which we grew. Most of us react moment to moment in life, driven by the often unconscious message of our body. Many of us get stuck in responses that are no longer helpful to us and our current situations. Most of us don’t know the importance of, or the how to of learning what message our body is trying to give us.

Through slowing down and becoming more aware of our body, we are able to develop greater understanding and agency for ourselves. As we step into listening to ourselves, and responding with compassion, we learn to trust ourselves. We become able to access the resources that we have within. We can become more resilient, and more at ease within ourselves.

This slowing down is very beneficial for all of us, and can be especially useful when we have a past of trauma, or long periods of stress. In order to release stress and trauma, we want to have access to resource, and release at a rate that will not cause additional harm to ourselves.

Safe and Sound Protocol.

Nourish and awaken the nervous system.

Feel better. Think better. Connect better.

In short, this is an auditory intervention that is usually 5 hours long, done gradually over 2 or more weeks. It can have transformative effects for individuals by allowing their nervous system to shift from a shut down, or highly sympathetic state, into a more grounded, and socially engaged state. Excellent for children or adults.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The SSP uses the auditory system as a portal to the vagus complex, which controls our physiological state. Once physiological state is regulated, we can accelerate or enhance subsequent therapy.

Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, the program is derived from nearly four decades of research on the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and social-emotional processes. It is designed to stimulate nervous system regulation by exercising and systematically challenging the auditory system with specifically processed music.

The music trains the auditory pathways by focusing on the frequency envelope of human speech. As the client learns to process these speech-related frequencies, they improve the functioning of two cranial nerves that are important for promoting overall social behavior. Cranial Nerve VII (Facial Nerve) helps clients focus on human voice and tune out irrelevant frequencies. Cranial Nerve X (Vagus Nerve) enables self-soothing and autonomic regulation.

Following successful completion of the intervention, individuals will be better able to focus in school, therapy, and everyday life and experience a calmed emotional and physiological state. This is based on studies that suggest that skills such as attention, state regulation and the ability to engage socially will be enhanced.
